Santa Ana, California Major & Minor: Major: Philosophy (Ethics & Public Policy) & Professional Writing for Civic Engagement Affiliations (on-campus and off-campus): Unite To Light, KCSB, Eeds & Arj @ Large, GrooveTPE, Nomaphobes, The Orange Confidential Contact Info (email, linkedin, website, etc): Email: [email protected] Website: edenloi.weebly.com eedsarjlarge.weebly.com What I plan to do after graduation: In the short term—travel, teach english, write and read more, play music, start hustling, and make some money. Long term— build a house, grow a food forest, get a dog, have some babies, fly out of earth’s atmosphere, publish a book and release an album. How I want to make an impact in the world: Right now, I think the best and most honest way for me to impact the world is to pursue my interests and passions, seek out opportunities that excite me, find causes or organizations I can help with, tell stories that need to be told, and treat people with respect and kindness. Why I chose the Professional Writing Minor: I thought it was a pretty unique program, especially the Civic Engagement track— I haven't heard of any other program like it, then or since. I was also attracted to the internship requirement, which offers some real experience in professional writing. My most memorable moment at UCSB: 2013-14 was a crazy year. What I will miss the most about UCSB: The beach and scenery |
INTERNSHIP
Eden interns for Unite To Light, a Goleta based non profit that manufactures and delivers low cost solar reading lights to over 66 countries around the world. Developing countries burn kerosene and other fuels, which is a dangerous and costly source of light. The solar lights delivered help reduce carbon emissions, prevent fire danger, and reduce harmful effects of breathing smoke.
