Los Angeles, CA Major & Minor: English, Communication & Professional Writing for Civic Engagement Affiliations (on-campus and off-campus): DJ at KCSB-FM 91.9 in Santa Barbara, Intern at RedEye Presents Contact Info (email, linkedin, website, etc): Email: [email protected] Website: beverlychow.weebly.com What I plan to do after graduation: After graduation, I'm heading straight to Australia, Bali, Malaysia and as many other countries as possible with two of my best friends! So far, the Great Barrier Reef, tropical island hopping, and feasting is on the agenda. I also want to immerse myself in other societies to understand the different communication styles and cultures of countries other than America while simultaneously having the raddest time of my entire life. With that additional life experience, I plan to come back and pursue a career in the music industry with festivals or record labels or find a job in sustainability or green energy. Ideally, I could find a job where these two passions intersect and I'll be able to travel for work. How I want to make an impact in the world: My end goal is always: save the world. By increasing the sustainability and social corporate responsibility of any company or cause I work for would help mitigate climate change and pollution. So at the very least, I can slow down the planet's destruction and at the very most, help reverse it. Why I chose the Professional Writing Minor: Both of my majors were rather general so I decided to take on the writing minor to specialize in the important skill of written communication. The prestige of being accepted into the only selective minor on campus would also give me an edge over others. My most memorable moment at UCSB: Landing a front flip in tumbling class, sailing next to baby sea lions and dolphins in sailing class, Extravaganza 2K16 experiencing Odesza, adventuring with my friends through the butterfly preserve watching leaves burst into a cloud of butterflies, catching the most mindblowing sunsets for days in a row during the summers, and so much more will always stay in my memories of my time here. What I will miss the most about UCSB: I absolutely adore Isla Vista, despite the heated put downs of so many others. I will keenly miss each unique aesthetic touch sprinkled throughout the tiny one square mile of beach town, skating barefoot to any friend's house in minutes or having them come to me since I already live with my best friends, wild adventures, and the inimitable vibes of this entire place is for sure my most beloved aspect of UCSB. There's no place like here. |
