Kevin Mahn
Newbury Park, CA
Major/Minor: Political Science (American Politics emphasis) with a minor in Professional Writing (Civic Engagement emphasis)
Affiliated Organizations:
My first two years at UCSB were spent performing on stage with the Shrunken Heads Production Company. I then went abroad to Copenhagen, Denmark from August 2013 until December 2013, where I studied political theory and international relations. Upon returning to UCSB, I became involved on campus as the Voter Registration Volunteer Coalition student intern, a position that inspired me to pursue the Civic Engagement track of the Professional Writing minor. As part of the minor, I am currently interning with the National Council for Teachers of English, creating introductory materials for the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC).
What I will miss the most about UCSB:
I am going to miss the welcoming, engaging atmosphere of the Writing 153 class. It’s very rare to get a chance to participate in open discussions between people with so many thought provoking views. In terms of what I’ll miss about UCSB in general, it’s probably going to be small things like the smell of the library during finals week (sweat and discarded subway sandwiches) or nightly Isla Vista sunsets.
After Graduation:
I plan on continuing to write, no matter where I go in life. As of right now, I have taken a sales position in downtown Santa Barbara.
